Cheese on Toast gave Greg Gillies aka Girl Talk a phone call last week – we chatted about his process in making his sample based music; he hinted at some new direction – perhaps a new project that isn’t even Girl Talk; his appearance in RIP The Remix Manifesto and the parallels drawn between his work as Girl Talk and his old job as a medical researcher. We even reminisced about the first time he played in New Zealand – he played at Whammy; came across the road after his set to a Quay Street Social Club night at Coherent and he heard Garageland for the first time and had to find out what the song was!

thanks very much for that andrew, he’s not steinski but he is a bunch of fun. i’d be interested to hear his thoughts on why the riaa hasn’t come after him. too niche?
