Roy Irwin is playing support (as well as The Transistors) on Friday night for the Dum Dum Girls at Auckland’s Kings Arms – so we figured it was timely to check in with the man about what five songs are presently spinning his wheels…
Useless Eaters – “Fake Fashion, Loud Music”
Awesome track off an amazing LP. The first time I heard this song it kicked me in the face and I went on to listen to it on repeat for a while and probably ruined it for everyone else. Seth Sutton also released a butt-load of records last year. Dedication and passion which is impossible not to admire. Shit gives me the chills.
Digital Leather – “Devotion”
I still haven’t listened to this record cause it’s still in the mail but I’ve listened to this one song and it was instantly another favorite. Digital Leather 4 president.

Mouserocket – “Downtown”
Big fan of everything Alicja Trout. Really pretty song and one of her many great bands. She seems to nail any style of music. Anything from the ear bleeding ‘Lost Sounds’ to her children’s pop ‘Shining Apple’ 7″. She also rocks the Flying V.
10 thumbs up.
Ryan Rousseau – “Falling in love”
I want this to be released ASAP. Every other track I’ve heard is just as good as this one and Ryan is another one of those people whose catalog of songs will melt your brain till Christmas. RYAN WONG IS 4 TEH PPL.
Jack Oblivian – “Girl With The Bruises”
When I listen to this track everything is good. How can you not like a song where one of the lines is “Her boyfriends a prick, I’m gonna hit him with a stick, yeah kick him in the dick”.
This song kicked me in the dick. Jack O is a dick kicking champion.
