Cheese on Toast got in a quick phone call with Bethany from Best Coast today – she’s still at home in LA right now, before they head over here to play Big Day Out on Friday – which I am really excited about!
We chatted about the new album which she hopes will be ready for release in the Northern Hemisphere Spring time – tehy have been working with the legendary producer Jon Brion on it – she told us that the songs on the new record reflect upon teh past two years and how her life has changed because of Best Coast. She still likes cats and weed – but doesn’t want to just only talk about them anymore (fair enough; there’s only so much one can say, really)
We talked also about their set on Friday – they will perform as a four-piece; previous trips to Australia were just a three piece; but regretfully new material from the forthcoming album will not be included in the set; although she did make a (joke) promise to cover Kanye West for us since he’s not playing in Auckland.
