Hey, do you have a spare three-rest-of-your-life-times to kill? You might have already heard, but the British Arts Council are in the process of archiving the late John Peel’s truly massive and impressive record collection – putting the whole thing online.
Tom Barker, director of the John Peel Centre, wrote a blogpost explaining that Peel’s collection contains “over 26,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and many thousands of CDs.” In order to process the sheer scale of his collection, the Centre decided that “the best way to start the process was to release the details of the first 100 albums, listed alphabetically, from each letter of the alphabet each week.” .. presumably this will take, ummm forever – and even long for us to view and enjoy!
Head over to The Space - so far, there’s 100 A and 100 B albums… it’s freaking awesome… just imagine what will be under M… or J.. or even R… T will be huge.. so will S… (etc etc etc)
