FROM THE PRESS RELEASE:
Philadelphian beatmaker KNXWLEDGE is set to amplify our hearts and minds on his debut New Zealand tour. The highly regarded remixer and producer follows on the back of worldwide acclaim and work for some of the biggest names in the business.
The name KNXWLEDGE is not just a symbol of the artist, but a description of him. His music takes out base elements (vowels) and replaces them with the under used and alien (x). It lures you into false comfort of songs you know before flipping the beat with class, consistently for its enhancement.
Through acclaim of his EP’s and mixtapes, he has not just mastered a prodigious understanding of beats and influence, but employs the capacity to override them into a warped and distorted sense of melodic compounds – intelligent, inspired, indefinable. Channeling the vibes (and facing comparisons) of J DIlla, Madlib, Flying Lotus and associates, his work is thematic and naturally organic, with a constant connection to human emotion in industrial surrounds.
Releasing on LA’s acclaimed All City, Tres Records, Klipmode and Hit+Run, his name caught the eye of London’s Boiler Room who invited him to perform on their legendary podcast series. With support from the likes of Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs, RinseFM, Future Classic, Illumsphere, and Mike Slott, he is a name on the rise with a sound for the stars.
KNXWLEDGE performs live as an undefinable and unexplainable solo unit, warping samples, productions and influences into an interconnected cloud of vibe. Armed with a laptop, sampler and no sense of boundaries, his show will take you on a multi-tiered trip into one of the smartest (and most knowledgeable) minds of modern music.
