GIG OF THE WEEK
This week’s gigs that Cheese on Toast says are the best to go to…
TUESDAY
Shit’s gonna get cra’y out West (Auckland) tonight with ENTER SHIKARI playing.
WEDNESDAY
Tidball is back on decks at Teenage Kicks! (that’s me, I just wrote about myself in the third person for dramatic effect) – after a two month absence from the long-running weekly indie club night, I am itching to get your feet moving.
THURSDAY
The first of two DHDFDs shows in Auckland tonight – they headline at Whammy and Wine Cellar in two rooms of awesome with Ghost Wave, Beach Pigs, Grass Cannons, High Society and Chrissie Hell.
In Masterton – Heart Attack Alley are playing in a bowling alley (!) – MasterBowl.
FRIDAY
Cheese on Toast’s “GIG OF THE WEEK” is tonight with The Conjurors making their usual magic at Whammy with my favorite new Auckland band Xuri Xruz and Hang Loose, who I am very excited about seeing – Vincent ex Whipping Cats new project, I think with James of The Sneaks.

In a fit of mental-blocks try and squeeze a visit to Lucha Lounge in tonight too for teh excellent Kittyhawk – their Alligatorz on Vacation single is easily a contender for Cheese on Toast ‘single of the year’ (if we had such a thing).
Also tonight, down at Cassette, the Mum Clubnight plays host to the second DHDFD show of the week – with supports from Chalk Horses and Fun House.
Rufus Wainwright is at The Civic in Auckland tonight.
In Dunedin – Dear Time’s Waste are in town, playing with tour-mates Deerpark at XII Below.
SATURDAY
The other big gig of the week in Auckland this week is bFM’s BANG!
It’s not a bFM private function – you do not need a b-card to join the party. In fact a presale over at UTR is only a tenner or fifteen at the door. bFM will be taking over Whammy and Wine Cellar to present a fine line up indeed : Sunken Seas, 1995, Randa, Suren Unka, Heart Attack Alley and Las Tetas.
If Xuri Xruz and Conjurors weren’t playing on Friday this would be my “gig of the week”.
For daytime goods – head out to the New Lynn Hospice Shop on Delta Ave – there’s live music from Silke, Callum Gentleman and Jocee Tuck and DJing from Marty Duda. Plus shiz loads of stuff (check the FB Event) and it’s all for a wonderful cause.
In Christchurch, at The Darkroom, Dear Time’s Waste are playing with Deerpark, Zen Mantra and Golden Orange.
