NZ Musician has reported that Auckland’s Dog Bollix pub and venue has closed.
Despite a recent refurbishment, the venue, which has been operating since 1996 has For Lease signs up and, NZ Musicina reports, the equipment and chattels owned by Cahersiveen Ltd (trading as The Dog’s Bollix) were put up for auction on September 14 under instruction from Rodgers Reidy Chartered Accountants. A notice on The Dogs Bollix website reads :
The DOG’S BOLLIX is undergoing a CHANGE. Because of this; Management is UNABLE to CONFIRM any BOOKINGS until new owners anounce their business intentions.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Also, today, Peter McLennan posted news on DubDotDash that long-running venue, Khuja Lounge, has announced it is closing down at the end of this month.

This is so sad. They are my two favourite local venues, both supporting our very talented musicians.

Unfortunately the musicians and patrons weren’t supporting the venues. They thought it was ok to take their owl alcohol and the door take. No business can survive on charity. There will be more doors closing. Good luck to you all.

Hi. My name is Conor. I am one of the originators of the Dogs Bollix Bar and also the band. We opened on 29th feb 1996 and sold in 2004. During that time I had the pleasure of meeting and hearing some of the most talented, entertaining and honest musicians, comedians, actors, bar staff and patrons (plus a few wankers), famous, not famous and infamous. I have been very lucky. Thank you.
