The Auckland leg of St Jerome’s Laneway festival is confirmed to be on Monday 28 January – being Auckland Anniversary Day and the festival will return to Wynyard Quarter.
In a press release issued earlier this month the Auckland promoters said :
“The location site will have a slightly different set up to 2012 Laneway – the site will be bigger and run along the waterfront, with lots of shade, heaps more grass, tables, chairs and umbrellas. We have doubled the size of the bars – and will be increasing the selection of food offerings. The site location will still be the most unique music festival location in NZ, with views to the Auckland Harbour Bridge and towering silos.”
Cheese on Toast can now reveal the first line-up announcement :
Bat for Lashes – Bailterspace – Yeasayer – Of Monsters And Men – Alt-J – Nicolas Jaar – Divine Fits – The Phoenix Foundation – Lawrence Arabia – Jessie Ware – Phelps and Munro – Japandroids – Street Chant – The Men - Cloud Nothings – Deer Park – Beach Pigs

There will be SIX more acts announced in November / December as well as “some other exciting stuff” (as the promoters enigmatically put it in their press release)

So this is why Alt-J is not coming here in October when they go to Australia. That’s OK then although I’d rather see them in a different setting.
