Evolving from Dunedin band, The Enemy, Toy Love had a brief but bright existence between January 1979 and September 1980. Tonight, 32 years later, TOY LOVE have been announced as recipients of this years Legacy Award at the NZ Music Awards. Quick off the mark to celebrate, Flying Nun and Real Groovy Records announce, this evening, plans to release a double LP, “Toy Love” – ressed on unique split coloured vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve. The album is a compilation of all the band’s singles’ (A & B sides), a selection of demos recorded in 1979, a live track and even a radio jingle.
In addition, following on from their limited edition Toy Love – Live At The Gluepot LP released earlier in the year, Real Groovy Records have put together a Toy Love DVD Collection with 17 clips from 1979 and 1980 – as well as a yet to be released new clip for ‘Swimming Pool’.
The album and DVD will be released on November 3rd.
