It’s been reported that Disney are buying Lucasfilm for US$4.05billion from George Lucus. They also plan on making a brand new Star Wars movie – any SW fan’ll tell you that the story was always intended, by Lucas, to be a nine-part epic – and plans are to make episodes 8 and 9 too. Disturbingly, though, unless I am mis-reading shiz, Disney also plan to keep on making further episodes “every two or three years” after that too.
The seventh movie in the Star Wars series is simply called “Episode 7″ and is planned for release in 2015.
Kathleen Kennedy, the current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will become its president and report to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. Lucas will be creative consultant on new Star Wars films.
