The 2013 Auckland Arts Festival announced line up details at a launch party last night.
The festival will occur across thirty different locations and venues from 6-24 March 2013 and tickets are already on sale.
Musical highlights include but are not limited to:
The Kronos Quartet will join the festival line up on March 9th, accompanied by Grammy Award winning pipa virtuoso Wu Man (who will also be performing her own show on the 10th).
Benjamin Britten’s magnum opus War Requiem will be performed the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is joined by fêted Irish soprano Orla Boylan, tenor Timothy Robinson and baritone Ivan Ludlow, plus Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir, New Zealand Youth Choir and a combined children’s choir – conducted by Eckehard Stier, on March 23rd.
NZ trio Convergence will be joined by master taonga puoro practitioner Horomona Horo to weave together Western, Eastern and Māori musical traditions on March 24th.
APO Composer-in-Residence Jack Body’s tribute to Carmen Rupe -”Songs and Dances of Desire” on March 8th.

Looking forward to the Kronos Quartet.. and some of the other acts / performances. Its brilliant to see such a diverse festival in Auckland!
