Two new acts have been announced for the Auckland leg of the Laneway Festival this morning – in a surprise move – given the promoter had previously advised that only one act would be announced today and a further two next week.
Australian beat-maker FLUME (real name Harley Streten) has had an impressive rise since he played his first show last year – New York TImes named him as an “Artist to Watch” (and now you can, actually, for real, watch him – if you go to the Laneway Festival). His debut album not only broke into the NZ top forty – back home it reached #2 on the ARIA Charts.
Stream his single Sleepless featuring Jezzabell Doran here and click thru to his Soundcloud for more.
From Minnesota, USA comes (apparently big-upped by Bon Iver) POLICIA with music that’s been described as being made from “dense-yet-tender electronic fields, distorted bass and austere vocals” – their debut album is out now – check a stream of Dark Star here, and below that, the official clip for Lay Your Cards Out (it’s gorgeous)
