Camp A Low Hum

So it's been a week now. We've all been enjoying hot showers and presumably comfortable beds - and can finally look back at our weekend away in Bulls with some perspective.

What were your highlights / lowlights ?

Was this your first time camper? Or have you been before, and if so, how did the 2010 experience stack up.

Is it true that everyone's first camp is their best?

Better than last year, and I'm gonna say equal best yet. I liked how the stages weren't so far away from each other and the camp area this time. Covered stages are the way to go I reckon, as I hate to think what the 2009 camp would've been like if it rained.

Best band - Pets With Pets. Watching Witch Hats/Pets With Pets play Neu! covers whilst blitzed on cheap wine in an empty 25m swimming pool pretty much defines my idea of a good time.

A lot of the bands weren't my thing (but good to see a better ratio of interesting bands to twee folk/totally "zany" pop this year) but it's still the best festival in NZ by far, and I will continue to go back every year. The only thing that sucks about Camp as an Aucklander is having to drive to the cold/rainy/shitty faraway parts of NZ. Would be awesome if it was in Northland or something.

highlights: secret knives, o'lovely, playing a decent time slot and some girl throwing their bra at us on stage, drinking beer, the zitz covering party hard \m/ - and seeing the lineup when we got there and realising i had probably only seen 4 or 5 of the acts playing

lowlights: my hangover on monday morning

first time camper - i heard a couple people who had been before saying this was their favourite one, such a rad venue... nice and far from auckland/close to welly ;)

pretty gay camp for me. some fuck stole my blanket and my tent flooded out so i ended up covering myself in all my clothes and they all got wet so i had no clothes for camp.got too drunk on the first night and couldnt play bmx rapists properly. woke up in wanganui hospital with a neck brace and told my neck might be broken??wtf!!!i was sweet but not allowed to drink for the rest of camp so that really sucked and made the whole thing suck. band highlights where: east brunswick all girls choir, batrider, witch hats, bandicoot in the pool, diediedie. giles? you douche...man, why didn't you come and tell me! I got back-up sleeping bags, blankets etc.. I coulda lent you some clothes and prob even found you a room somewhere for you to crash out in if your tent was screwed....though, haha, getting fuck drunk so you could score free accom at a hospital was a pretty good plan though.

sorry man, that was my fault, when they picked you up i specifically requested the above. I thought you'd get a kick. They call that the "Manawatu wakeup". Next time you pass out and are completely non-responsive I'll just put you in a wheelbarrow and leave you on the side of the road.

still. haha, way to have the most talked about performance at campus. i'm still waiting to see the video.

I witnessed this performance. If there is a video it should be sent to ALAC and used as part of the "It's not what we're drinking, it's how we're drinking" campaign.

I bet David Yow hasn't got a story as punk as "woke up in Wanganui Hospital with a tube in my penis"
