Cheese on Toast talked with Molly from Ponytail ahead of them arriving to play two NZ shows next week – Monday they play SFBH and Tuesday they play Whammy.
We talked about the unusual story behind how Ponytail was formed, being an ‘experimental’ band, and Molly’s ‘lyrics’.

THE DODOS
We spoke with Logan Kroeber, drummer from The Dodos the other week – we talked about the evolution of The Dodos, with a third album and a third member. Logan also let slit that The Dodos will be playing at Camp A Low Hum when they come to New Zealand in January.

KILLAQUEENZ
KWEEN G and BELIZEAN BOMBSHELL are, together, KILLA QUEENZ – from Sydney, Australia.
Originally from Uganda and Belize, Kween G and Belizean Bombshell draw inspiration from their respective homelands to bring a fresh sound to the Australian Hip Hop scene.They first met at the 2000 Olympic Games where they were individually performing as dancers and through a passion of music KillaQueenz was formed.
Having recently released their debut album SISTARHOOD, which our pals over at Nerdy Frames blogged about it over a month ago, saying it encompassed the rap mastery of old-school greats with a focus on modern beat production (we paraphrase, but you get the drift) – Nerdy Frames drew some comaprison also to Florida’s Yo Majesty – which we’d have to agree with – only, so far, we reckon KillaQueenz are, actually, way better!

AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT
In March 2006 in the one-week period while working on a novel, Mikel Jollett learned that his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he also experienced a break-up and was diagnosed with a genetic autoimmune disease which led him to develop Alopecia areata and Vitiligo. Spurred by these events in his personal life, Jollett turned from writing prose to writing songs as he realized he was composing an album instead of a novel, last week Cheese on Toast spoke with Mikel…
